The Ohio State Lung Center is the only comprehensive lung and pulmonary center in central Ohio. Serving as the outpatient clinic for the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, the Lung Center includes leading-edge research, state-of-the-art clinical programs, courteous one-on-one care and a full slate of services in allergy, sleep and pulmonary medicine. We offer free parking, timely appointments and in-office allergy shots and testing at Martha Morehouse Outpatient Care.
Innovative Surgeries
We’re the only hospital in central Ohio that offers lung transplants for adults. Our surgeons performed Ohio State’s first lung transplant in 1998 and the first double lung transplant the following year. Our Lung Volume Reduction Surgery Program can give patients with emphysema a renewed lease on life, improving their lung capacity by removing diseased parts of their lungs.
Our talented team
The Ohio State medical staff has expertise in a diverse range of lung and pulmonary conditions including emphysema, lung cancer, asthma and alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (a rare inherited disease that raises the risk for lung and liver disease). Our team includes faculty physicians, pulmonary, allergy and sleep medicine fellows and specially trained nurses and nurse practitioners.
Growing clinical trial programs
Our clinical trials generate new knowledge and give our patients access to the latest groundbreaking therapies. We actively recruit people to join our programs. Our patients have expressed a high degree of satisfaction after participating in our trials, citing educational benefits as the best part of the experience. We also have a robust basic science research program.
